The excessive use of technology and subsequent decline of outdoor wilderness exposure is leading to a generation of individuals who often do not have healthy lifestyles, do not discover and explore nature, and do not view the wilderness as a resource for future generations.
The Stony Brook School Outdoor Adventure Club will offer a unique opportunity for SBS students to explore the outdoors and develop their leadership potential through experiential wilderness adventure.
Using the surrounding beaches and ocean, inland trails and parks, and nearby mountains, club members will use our environment as an engaging outdoor classroom where one can have fun, build relationships, practice environmental stewardship, and develop self-awareness and confidence through adventure exercise and activities.
In Summary, the Stony Brook School Outdoor Adventure Club members will develop a lifelong habit of exercise through outdoor activities, foster a lifelong responsibility to protect and preserve our planet, and ultimately experience God through the environment in an unique and fun way.
